Ghost, which means the soul of people after death. It will show the faces of its lifetime again in the world. Generally, it refers to a phenomenon that phantom of the dead appears in front of his or her family. The superstitious people believe that when people dies, the body will be dead, but its soul can leave the body, wandering around the world. At first, the ghost image of people’s eyes is coming and going like a shadow. Later, after the description of literary works, it gradually has a certain model. From ancient times to the present, there are too many legends of ghost. Ohio University in Athens is very famous for one of its ghost stories, including The Ridges. It is one of the oldest university in the world which is regarded as the most haunted college campus in Athens, even around the world. It once was taped in the Scariest Places on Earth program by FOX (Chris Evans, 2000). This PBI report seeks to explore the credibility of Haunted Athens Ohio based on the literature in this area and a site visit.

According to literary works or witnesses, there are many sightings and evidence can speak for themselves. There are so many weird ones that freak out its teachers and students such as the story of Brown House, Jefferson Hall, Washington Hall, Shively Hall, Voigt Hall and so on. Among of all those stories, Wilson Hall is an extremely famous one. Here the report will be focusing on the story of Wilson Hall.

Among the students in the university, Wilson Hall may probably be the most famous haunted place of all the places on the main campus. It also is the structure that most people refer to when they talking about haunted Athens Ohio, thinking it as the Scariest Places on Earth as its one primarily feature. As such, here are many stories telling about student suicides and plenty of rooms which no student want to stay in for a long period of time. In each kind of the haunted story, people prefer to regard Wilson Hall as the home of a unexplained ghost who died in the 1970s, it is said that he died in an odd way. Room 428 was his last home and where he finally died. From that, even many years past, students who resided that room said that they could hear strange sounds and footsteps, some even witnessed several objects moving in the flesh. (West Green, 2012) With the lapse of time, students began to surmise many haunted stories, some cowardly ones may see some terrible phantasm at night. Thus, its frame of haunted campus was spread. A few years after, the university closed the room, no students live in it nowadays so there are no new occurences given by them.

Wilson Hall is a relatively new structure which was constructed in 1965, but in just about 50 years it’s already acquired an unusual number of tales. The building was located in the middle of five cemeteries which are arranged in a pentagram. When it just comes to this point, it will freak out most people. According to the concept of ghost of pagan tradition, a shape of pentagram can create safe areas free from any paranormal activity (West Green, 2015).

However, in recent years, the myth of how the pentagram works to protect the Wilson Hall from the invasion and attack by ghosts was removed in the exhibition in the case of Wilson Hall. According to mathematical principles, specialists say that the form of a pentagram can be united on a map by any five points. So, it may proves that

all the interpretations of the pentagram mystery at Wilson Hall are merely speculations. In each kind of the haunted story, people prefer to regard Wilson Hall as the home of a unexplained ghost who died in the 1970s, it is said that he died in an odd way. Moreover, several American scientists recently used scientific reasons and calculated to prove that ghosts, zombies and vampires exist merely in horror stories and real life does not exist. Kostas Efsimiu, a physics professor at University of Central Florida said in his report of the National Science Foundation of the United States that even more that Americans believe the belief in astrology and intuition and other pseudo scientific phenomena, 30 percent of Americans believe that there are ghosts in their houses, more than 20% of Americans believe that witches and wizards can communicate with the dead. Nevertheless, he also said that what the public believe in is totally impossible and ridiculous in the cognition of the scientists. Although Americans believe in things that are related to the gods and ghosts easily, using the principle of physics can easily prove out that ghosts don’t exist.

It is the professional opinion of PBI investigators that the debate regarding Haunted Athens Ohio is or not reliable. Yet, even scientists proved that theory is merely conjecture, there are still some weird things happening every day around the world, so the final result remains to be seen. Certainly, step by step, indisputable evidence for whether ghost exists will be found and accepted by the scientific community.
